Frequently asked questions about Insurance Claims:
Q. When to file a claim?
A. One determinate of whether you may have hail or wind damge to your roof is to pay close attention to any other damage that may be observable after a storm. In general, if a hail storm is strong enough to damage other objects at ground level, including nearby cars, wood fences, exterior siding, shutters or gutters, then you should contact us to have your roof inspected for damage.
Q. What can I detect a damage in a hail storm?
In a hailstorm, most hail that hits your roof and house may be too small to cause any damage. However, a percentage of the hail may be large or irregularly shaped, which can cause severe damage that may not be readily apparent and may not start to leaking for some time. Another tell-tell sign is if you see a significant amount of shingle granules at the ends of downspouts. If you see these granules in your downspouts, you may have damage to your roof, hail or no hail storm.
Q. How to file a claim?
A. You’ll need the date on which hail storm occurred and you noticed the damage to your home. Note this date to file the claim. Take the pictures of people showing the size of the hail. So, save a few pictures to show the insurance agent. It’s best to have your roof inspected by a state licensed roofing contractor to determine if you need to file an insurance claim and have an insurance adjuster assess the total amount of damage incurred.
Q. What is Insurance Adjuster meeeting?
A. Nu-Prime of Memphis representative will meet the insurance adjuster at your home and do an inspection with them to make sure they do not miss something critical to your claim. In most cases, the insurance adjuster will see the damage, photographs of the loss and provide the insurance company with an estimate of the cost of repairing or replacing the roof. This is a free, no-obligation hail damage inspection where a representative will check the entire home for hail damage.
Q. What is Insurance Claim Process?
A. The claim process includes to file a claim on your behalf. Our professional staff will approach the insurance company with proper paperwork, documentation including photographs and measurements of the loss. All we need is your Insurance Agent’s name, telephone number and the insurance policy number. At your request, we can fax a copy or e-mail of the estimate to your insurance company.
Q. What if your estimate is greater than the insurance company’s estimate?
A. This happens when the insurance adjuster misses something in the scope of work to be completed. We can almost always work something out with the insurance company. We need to submit a “supplement” with documentation containing pictures, measurements and paperwork. This supplement is reviewed by the insurance company and upon approval, sends a check for this additional work.
